In Other Words/In Other Worlds - September 3, 2008

The first time I heard Tracie D. Hall read was at a rec room show in September 2006. She was incredible, and she stole that show for me. So I knew that our September 2008 show would be good when she signed on as curator.

Tracie brought in several voices new to our stage: established writers like Quraysh Abegunde and younger writers like Christina and Torres. She also recruited the talents of rec roomers like Toni and Krista, and newer rec roomers like Paul and Carl.

Each reader told his or her story – the story of who they are, or how they are. These were stories of home and identity and family and the space where they connect and then spiral out into the larger portrait of self.

Everyone I spoke with after the show commented on how great the readers were and how much they’d love to see everyone back on the rec room stage. And I have to agree. Thanks to Tracie and to all of the readers for a great night, and please come back again soon!
